Most people have not been taught how to run. They assume it’s something that comes naturally, but running is a skill and just like any other skill it can be taught and it can be learnt.

Although it seems the most natural thing in the world to do, many people don’t know how to run efficiently without getting injured, and to achieve their goal or challenge. People use running to stay fit, for weight loss or to help them with their sport or challenge (e.g. running a marathon, triathlon).

The purpose of The Running School® is to teach people

         how to run and then teach them how to run faster.

The Running School® has developed training protocols which can teach anyone how to run efficiently in 6 hours!  The coaching methodology has been proven with thousands of non-athletes and elite athletes and is easy to follow, effective, complete and motivating.

It works equally well with kids as it does with adults who want to learn how to run or improve their running technique and speed.

The Running School® concept was created by Mike Antoniades; founder and Coaching Director of Sport Dimensions and The Movement & Running School. He is well-respected Performance & Rehabilitation coach who has worked with thousands of athletes and professional sports teams in the UK, Europe and the USA. The Running School® provides on-going coaching, motivation and training programmes to educate and further develop athletic performance. All clients participating in The Running School® have improved their running technique and reduced their injury risk, with many furthering their development of running speed and improved explosiveness and coordination.

Most of the energy expended in running, is due to the compensation movements – and so considerable gains in running speed, as well as running economy, can be made by eliminating wasteful or incorrect movements.

There is no such thing as “The perfect Running technique”! Why?

Because we are all made differently and come in all shapes and sizes, we are all individual with different strength and weaknesses.

“ But…everyone can have their own perfect running technique based on what they are trying to achieve and their body type”.

Another major function of The Running School is helping people get back to full fitness after injury or surgery through our Movement Rehabilitation and fitness program. Repetitive inefficient movement can lead to injuries and loss of form and then we struggle to get back to full fitness and speed.

At the heart of what we do is functional movement. The ability of the body, to move efficiently, is central to being able to perform at your best and stay injury free. Running is a skill and most people have not been taught how to run. Through our unique coaching methodology, we have developed the ability to help individuals of all levels and from all sports.

When you sign-up to the Running School you get six Training Sessions.

In the first session – we spend time analyzing and assessing your Biomechanics – the way you move, jog and run. We look at any weaknesses you may have through our unique Running School Movement Screen and then we start correcting your biomechanics.

The next five Training sessions are dedicated to teaching and coaching the correct technique, based on your fitness level and what you want to achieve.

We also give you homework! Training programs that you can follow when you are on your own. Don’t worry if you can’t run long distances or haven’t run for years – The training will be based on your individual fitness level.

 

In the biomechanical analysis we start by assessing your Biomechanics i.e. the way you move, the way you walk and jog. We look at any weaknesses through our unique Running School Movement Screen and then by taking both of these elements into consideration we explain how we can reduce your risk of injury and improve your performance.

This session is also the most important because we look at the weaknesses of the body in the movement. How your body reacts to the change of movement going from walking to running and from running to sprinting. Balanced biomechanics, form, and technique are key factors to running faster, more efficiently, and injury-free. Correct running form ensures that we create and maintain linear momentum, reduce joint impact, minimize energy loss and maximize efficiency and economy. The application of Biomechanical, Gait and Movement Analysis and video documentation helps us to identify any weaknesses and the underlying causes for weaknesses in walking, running, and sprinting. The results help us to develop individualized, technique and performance programs for people and professional athletes.

The Functional Movement Analyses is a practical assessment tool consisting of a series of functional movements that allow us to identify compensations or dysfunction in movement, muscle activation, and firing sequences of the neuromuscular system.

The first assessment we do is Biomechanical and Functional analysis of you running (the cost is 500 dirhams). In the biomechanical analysis we start by assessing your Biomechanics i.e. the way you move, the way you walk and jog. We look at any weaknesses through our unique Running School Movement Screen and then by taking both of these elements into consideration we explain how we can reduce your risk of injury and improve your performance.
The Functional Movement Analyses is a practical assessment tool consisting of a series of functional movements that allow us to identify compensations or dysfunction in movement, muscle activation, and firing sequences of the neuromuscular system.
The application of Biomechanical, Gait and Movement Analysis and video documentation helps us to identify any weaknesses and the underlying causes for weaknesses in walking, running, and sprinting. The results help us to develop individualized, technique, pre-rehab and performance programs for people and professional athletes.
After we do Biomechanical & Functional analysis we have a package of 6 running sessions (2100 dirhams or per session would be 350 dirhams) where we will be working on corrections and improvement of your running technique and help you to be injury free.
